Elliotts have been breeding and rearing grass-fed cattle and sheep in Northamptonshire for over 100 years. Historically, it was normal for a village to have a butcher serving local people with meat from their own animals. This is very rare now with cheaper meat being imported from overseas.

Visiting the Kislingbury shop with its chain fly screen and tiny counter in front of a traditional butcher’s block was like stepping in to the 1950s. It was not unusual to find a queue of people waiting to be served on Hodges Lane by aproned butchers wearing freshly pressed shirts and ties.

In 2020, Elliotts moved to Noborough Lodge Farm Shop, just off the A5 near The Heart of the Shires shopping village, a series of renovated farm buildings with plenty of parking. Elliott’s Butchers and Farm Shop is a short drive from Daventry, Long Buckby and Weedon. The farm’s cattle and sheep surround the new farm shop.

Richard Heritage took over the shop in 2023 with the help of Ed, Freja, Helen and Julie. If you value eating well-bred local meat and poultry that has been skilfully butchered by friendly staff, this is the place for you.
